In ihrer Bildserie und Ausstellung WIE DU MIR, SO TEIL ICH DIR (TIT FOR TAT) entwickelte Maximiliane Baumgartner ein Sharesystem in der sie sich mit Abhängigkeitsverhältnissen, Philanthropie und ihrer Verwicklung in der (Kunst-)Pädagogik, Bildern im (Selbst-)Auftrag sowie Fragen nach Spielfeldern der Kunst beschäftigt.

Diese Überlegungen spiegeln sich in dem von ihr entwickelten konzeptionellen System des Teilens für WIE DU MIR, SO TEIL ICH DIR (TIT FOR TAT) wider: Im Rahmen der Ausstellung die im Herbst 2022 in der Galerie Max Mayer stattfand, entwickelte Maximiliane Baumgartner eine Serie von fünf zusammengehörigen Bildpaaren auf Alu-Dibond, so genannte „Schwester-Bilder“. Anlässlich der Ausstellung entschied sie, dass im Falle eines Verkaufs jedes Schwester-Bild einer der Orte ihrer formellen und informellen Bildung geschenkt wird: ihrer Mutter, ihrem Kindergarten/ihrer Grundschule, ihrem Gymnasium – beide im Allgäu –, der Akademie der Bildenden Künste in München und dem Verein für Fraueninteressen e.V. in München.

In ihrem performativen Vortrag reflektiert Baumgartner über die Mechanismen hinter dem Interesse des Kunstmarktes an Pädagogik und die historische Rolle der Philanthropie darin. Dabei problematisiert sie Künstlerinnen als Bildproduzentinnen in ihrer historisch bürgerlichen Rolle als Akteur*innen in Bildung und Philanthropie.

Maximiliane Baumgartner studied art and art education at the Academy of Fine Arts Munich and has dedicated herself to game settings and archives since 2014. She develops research-related series of works in the medium of painting from the perspective of artistic research. Based on urban contexts and an interest in possible forms of counter-publicity, which she understands both as a place of production and a place of performance, she formulates critical questions and frameworks for action in the medium of painting as an expanded field of action. The interrelationship between artistic production and education is characteristic of Maximiliane Baumgartner’s painterly and performative practice.
