Individualistic Conformism – and other kinds of “post-bourgeois” lifestyles

The apparent contradiction of a simultaneous individualization of lifestyles and a parallel increase in conformism is not to be resolved dialectically (“colorful ants”), nor in terms of control society theory (subjects control themselves through increased individualism), but by comparing the practical effects and consequences of old and new conformisms and nonconformisms.
