Mosaique und Checkpoint Queer - Community Talk. Between Networks of Legal Protection, Care and the Rise of Communities for Refugees in Lüneburg
Panel
30. April 2025, 16 Uhr - 17:30 Uhr
This community talk invites Mosaique, a consum-free space and cultural center, and Checkpoint queer, a queer health center, to talk about their community based work in the city of Lüneburg. Two organizations with different expertises and approaches are brought together to delve into the rise of care communities and the importance of protection networks for refugees, asylum seekers and queer people. What do these different agents offer in their work for these communities? How can local networks of solidarity between different organizations be established? And what could be the University’s role in this process? While Checkpoint approaches the intersections of medical and psychological assistance of queer refugees, Mosaique offers a space based on intercultural dialogue. From the rise of safe spaces to sexual health care, this talk also highlights the need for legal security for people who are fleeing persecution. Moderation by Leonie Dieck, previous counselor in asylum procedures for queer refugees and co-Author of “Beratung von queeren Geflüchteten - Handlungsempfehlungen im Kontext sexuelle und geschlechtliche Vielfalt und Flucht”.
